12/24 October 1826. The Committee of the National Assembly expresses its gratitude to the Philhellenic Philanthropic Committee in Geneva, which undertook to raise and educate six young Greeks. The founding of the Philhellenic Committee, in February 1822, had been greatly assisted by philhellene Swiss banker Jean-Gabriel Eynard, who, together with Kapodistrias, had made the city a centre of dispatch of food and money to exhausted Greeks who had fled Missolonghi during its fall in April 1826.

12/24 June 1837. Ministerial declaration of the first Treaty between Greece and Switzerland, signed by Ignaz von Rudhart, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Treaty was negotiated on behalf of Greece by Ambassador in Munich Alexandros Mavrokordatos.

26 February [10 March] 1867. The Consulate of Geneva is established by Royal Decree. On the same day, Greek scholar, philhellene and I. Kapodistria’s secretary (1827-1828) Élie-Ami Bétant is nominated as Consul by Royal Decree.
